24 HOUR HOLTER MONITOR

Heart rhythm problems can be the cause for palpitations, dizziness, blackouts or even strokes.
These can be due to abnormally slow or fast heart rates or irregular heart rhythms.

24 hour holter monitor

A common method to diagnose heart rhythm abnormalities is monitoring at home with electrodes placed on the chest wall that records the heart rhythm (Holter monitoring). These monitors are worn anywhere from 24 to 72 hours. The electrodes are placed on your chest wall and you will be sent home.

Recordings of the heart rhythm are made over a 24-hour period while you have the monitor on. You will be asked to return this monitor to our clinic once the 24-hour period is complete so that the information on your heart rhythm can be assessed.

We offer 24 hour Holter Monitor in multiple locations in Melbourne Metro and Gippsland.  Bookings can be made by calling your most convenient the clinic directly.

ECG

An electrocardiogram (ECG) is a medical test that detects cardiac (heart) abnormalities by measuring the electrical activity generated by the heart as it contracts. The machine that records the patient's ECG is called an electrocardiograph.  Sticky patches (electrodes) are attached to your chest and limbs. Signals are recorded as waves displayed on a monitor or printed on paper.

An ECG can help a doctor identify the cause of chest pain, evaluate problems which may be heart related, such as extreme tiredness, shortness of breath, dizziness or fainting and irregular heartbeats.

An ECG is performed during your consultation by the cardiologist, it takes around 5-10 minutes and the report is analysed on the spot and a copy is sent to you referring doctor.
